Ex Pont. 2, 8, 41, Sic pater in Pylios, Cumaeos mater in annos / vivant). Nestor, the Pylian king, was already proverbially long-lived in the Homeric poems (cfr. e.g. Iliad, 1, 250-251) and is said to have lived for three generations (cfr. Hor. Carm., 2, 9, 13 ter aevo functus, Ov. Met., 12, 188, nunc tertia vivitur aetas). The same topic is developed by Cimbriaco in C. 20.
