FRAGEN VON P. CORVINUS AN DEN HUND ZOTULUS
INTERROGATIO P. CORVINI AD ZOTULUM CANEM
Beschreibung
This poem, along with C. 55, forms a poetic diptych. In this one, Corvinus addresses a dog, named Zotulus. Why does the dog stay all time at the window of its house? He guesses that the dog is waiting for a girl or for visitors or is looking for a cool place.
The identity of the speaker is unclear. Probably it's the same Corvinus as in Amalteo's poem C. 5. Regarding poems focussing on animals and their attitude, we detect several models in ancient poetry. In Bonomo's production, there are other examples, such as C. 196 and C. 197.
