Ludovico da Ponte

The identity of this author cannot be determined without doubt. Perhaps he is identical with Ludovicus Ponticus Virunius (1460–1520): https://www.treccani.it/enciclopedia/ludovico-da-ponte_%28Dizionario-Biografico%29/

However, according to the sources, the latter was born in Belluno, while our author gives himself the epithet Tarvisanus, i.e. “from Treviso”. He may therefore be identified with Ludovicus (Ponticus) de Strazarolis, whose real name was Alvise Strazzaroli (1448–1504), notary and professor of grammar, who was born and worked in Treviso, cfr. Serena 1912, 116–22; 343.
