AN DEN GROẞARTIGEN HERRN GEORG HÖLLECHER, EIN NACHTS AUSGEARBEITETES EPIGRAMM VON GEORGIUS POSTHUMUS ÜBER SEINE MÜHSAL IM KERKER

AD MAGNIFICUM DOMINUM GEORGIUM HOELLECHREM EPIGRAMMA GEORGII POSTHUMI DE SUIS AERUMNIS IN CARCERE LUCUBRATUM

Beschreibung
In this elegy, the otherwise unknown Italian Georgius Posthumus addresses the civil servant Georg Hellecher/Elacher (attested as councillor and envoy of Emperor Maximilian as well as commissioner and captain of Pordenone in the 1480s and 1490s). The poet was - we do not know when, by whom and why - imprisoned for two months at Friedberg Castle near Volders (v. 9) and reports about his experience to Höllecher: beatings, hunger, cold, vermin, filth, xenophobic guards. He then thanks the Virgin Mary and the addressee heartily for their support.
